Points
The Qantas and Accor double-dip: two lots of points for one stay
Earning two currencies from one transaction is rare, and this is the most accessible version of it in Australia. It's also easy to set up and then forget forever.
Not financial advice — I'm a points hobbyist writing about my own account, not a licensed adviser. Points costs and program rules change without notice. All figures checked 25 August 2026. Always confirm current pricing with the airline before you book.
Most points advice is about spending differently. This one isn't — it's about spending exactly the same and collecting twice, which is a much easier sell.
If you stay at Accor hotels and you're already collecting Qantas Points, linking the two accounts means one stay earns both Qantas Points and ALL Reward points. There's no extra cost and no catch beyond the setup.
The setup takes about five minutes and I put it off for over a year.
What double-dipping actually means here
Normally a hotel stay earns you one thing: that hotel group's own points. The Qantas and Accor partnership lets a single eligible stay credit both programs.
You aren't splitting one pot in two. You earn the ALL Reward points you'd have earned anyway, and Qantas Points on top.
That's genuinely unusual. Most partnerships make you choose.
The earn rate
One eligible Accor stay
| Qantas Points | 3 per A$1 spent |
| ALL Reward points | your normal earn, unchanged |
| Extra cost to you | $0 |
Three points per dollar is a strong rate for spending you were doing anyway, and it counts on eligible dining and room service charged to the room — not just the room rate itself.
A $400 two-night stay with a couple of dinners charged to the room gets you comfortably over 1,500 Qantas Points, on money you'd already committed to spending.
How to set it up
- Have both memberships. Qantas Frequent Flyer and ALL are both free to join.
- Link them. You can do this from either the Qantas Frequent Flyer site or the Accor side — it's the same link, done once.
- Book so the stay is eligible. Rate types matter, and the cheapest third-party rates often aren't eligible. Book direct where you can.
- Give your membership number at check-in even after linking. It costs nothing and saves a missing-points claim later.
Once linked it's permanent. This is a one-off admin job that then earns quietly forever, which is my favourite category of points activity and the reason I automate everything I can.
The limits nobody mentions
Three things worth knowing before you count on it:
- Geography. Qantas Points on Accor stays are limited to Australia and a set of Asia Pacific countries. A stay in Paris will earn your ALL points but not the Qantas side.
- Rate eligibility. Not every booking qualifies. Third-party booking sites and some discounted or non-refundable rates are commonly excluded.
- It's a partnership, not a law. Rates and terms in these deals get revised, and this one already has — see below.
If you're planning a trip around this, check the current terms on the Qantas partner page before you book rather than trusting an article — including this one. I've dated every figure here for exactly that reason.
The flights side got worse
The partnership also works in the other direction: eligible Qantas flights can earn ALL Reward points for members with Gold status or above in either program.
That side was devalued. The earn dropped from 1 ALL point per A$2 spent to 1 point per A$4 — half what it was.
It also only applies to flights both marketed and operated by Qantas with a QF flight number, so codeshares are out.
I mention it because most write-ups about this partnership still quote the old rate, and because it's a useful reminder about how these things move. The hotel side remains the good half.
Is it worth changing hotels for?
Honestly? Only sometimes.
Three points per dollar is good, but if an equivalent hotel is $60 a night cheaper, the points don't come close to covering the difference. On a $400 stay you're earning roughly 1,200 points — call it somewhere around $12 to $24 of value depending on how you eventually redeem them.
Never let a points earn talk you into a more expensive room. That's the trap this entire hobby is built on, and I've fallen into it.
But when an Accor property is already the sensible choice on price and location, linking the accounts means you collect twice for no additional effort. That's the whole pitch, and it's enough.
It's the same principle as everything else in my points ledger: the balance came from spending we were doing anyway, captured properly. Not from clever decisions — from not leaving points on the table.
Questions I get asked
Can you earn Qantas Points and Accor points on the same stay?
Yes. Once your Qantas Frequent Flyer and ALL accounts are linked, an eligible stay earns Qantas Points and your normal ALL Reward points at the same time, at no extra cost.
How many Qantas Points do you earn at Accor hotels?
Three Qantas Points per A$1 spent on eligible stays, which can include dining and room service charged to the room.
Do Accor stays outside Australia earn Qantas Points?
Only in Australia and a set of Asia Pacific countries. Stays elsewhere still earn ALL Reward points but not the Qantas side.
How do I link my Qantas and Accor accounts?
You can link from either the Qantas Frequent Flyer website or the Accor site. It only needs doing once and it then applies to future eligible stays.
Do Qantas flights earn Accor points?
For members with Gold status or above, eligible Qantas flights earn 1 ALL Reward point per A$4 spent. That rate was reduced from 1 point per A$2, and it only applies to flights marketed and operated by Qantas.
Do you stay at Accor properties? Worth five minutes to link the accounts if you haven't.
